 Tenry Johns has developed a high energy, fun-filled approach to the blues.
His enthusiasm and engaging down-home demeanor have made him an audience favorite. After 30 plus years as a band leader for 'The Hurricanes', 'Johns Brothers', 'Nitro', 'Denise LaSalle', 'Bill Coday' and 'The Notations' and opening for starts such as 'Natalie Cole', 'The Spinners', 'The Staple Singers' and 'Little Anthony', Tenry has made the leap to front man with his debut CD "In Here Tonight". With plenty of airplay in the Chicagoland area, loads of gigs every weekend and many good reviews in such staples as Living Blues No.150, Blues Access No.40 and Blues Revue No.54, Tenry Johns has become a name to watch. To help with his project, Tenry has enlisted the help of several Allstar players and formed "The Tenry Johns Band". Included in this lineup are Ken Barker (Willie Kent, Bonnie Lee, Jonnie B.Moore, Little Ed and The Blues Imperials, Freddie Roulette, Eddie Taylor, Jr.), Larry Kucera (Beggar's Banquet, Big Daddy Roaches, Premium Blend, Small Town), Bob Crane (Crazy Mama, Premium Blend, Johnny Drummer, owner Red Dog Music) and Ron Vykrutka (Beggar's Banquet, Premium Blend, Crazy Mama). Although Blues-based, Tenry also delves into R&B, Motown and even Rock genres. With his act you will not only be entertained, but the interactive playfulness that Tenry Johns brings to the stage makes you feel as though you are part of the show as well.
